A few weeks ago, I did a blog on roasting white potatoes and mentioned that I batch cooked that day. One of the items in a featured image was sweet potatoes. As requested by readers, I wanted to discus how to deliciously bake sweet potatoes to perfection.
Baking sweet potatoes is fast, easy and delicious! So many people say they are too dry or woody, when in fact, if you bake them right, they melt in your mouth.
Baking Sweet Potatoes
Step 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2. Wash and clean off potato thoroughly.
Step 3. Cut off both ends of potatoes as well as any browned/bruised spots.
Step 4. Poke two to three holes on all four sides of the sweet potato. I use the knife I cut them with to poke holes, but you can use a fork also.
Step 5. Wrap each potato in foil.
Step 6. Cover a cookie sheet with foil and place potatoes (wrapped in foil) on cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes to an hour depending on size of potato. Potatoes are done when soft.
Note: When potatoes are done, they should be very soft and often spill their amazing sweet juices all over the place when cooked correctly. Foil on the cookie sheet is to make clean up easy and fast as well. You can eat it as is or top with cinnamon and enjoy.
